Alpine High Performance Home
Sited 600 metres above sea level with mountain and lake views to the south. Designed for the alpine environment so energy efficient, the owners actually receive credits instead of power bills.
Positioned six hundred metres above sea level, this alpine home was resolved to face the mountain and lake views to the south while defending the harshest winter conditions. So energy-efficient in operation that the owners receive credits, not bills.
Built using advanced High Performance Home principles, it remains warm and cozy in winter, and cool in summer, maintaining a consistent indoor temperature year-round.
But what truly sets this home apart is its performance this isn’t just a comfortable home, it actually pays the owner to live here. With exceptional energy efficiency, the home generates power bill credits instead of ongoing costs, redefining what’s possible with High Performance Homes in NZ.
Jetty House
A High Performance Home on a steep, sloping site in Kinloch stepped floor levels, careful window placement and panoramic lake-to-mountain views. Photographed by David Hensel, architect First Light Studio.
A steeply-sloping Kinloch site presented a rare opportunity every room could see the lake if the home was resolved carefully. Stepped floor levels, deep eaves, and generous glazing were paired with a fully airtight, insulated envelope so the panoramic view never came at the cost of comfort.
