Areas We Serve: Taupō & the Central Plateau

HP Homes is a high performance home builder based in Taupō. We build new homes, renovate and restore across Lake Taupō and the Central Plateau, including Taupō township, Kinloch, Acacia Bay, Wairakei, Broadlands, Reporoa, Waitahanui, Hatepe, Tūrangi and Mangakino, and take on selected projects elsewhere in New Zealand.

Where we build

Taupō

Our home base. New builds, renovations and high performance homes across the township and surrounding hills, including our 600 m Alpine High Performance Home.

Kinloch

Steep, view-rich lakeside sites on the western bays. Home to two of our best-known projects: Jetty House and the Kinloch High Performance Home ($80 power bill over three years).

Acacia Bay

Hillside sections with lake views just west of town, where glazing, orientation and slope all need careful design.

Broadlands

Rural and lifestyle blocks north-east of Taupō, with frosty, exposed sites. See the Broadlands Home.

Also across the Central Plateau

Wairakei, Reporoa, Waitahanui, Hatepe, Tūrangi, Mangakino, Oruanui and nearby rural areas. If you’re not sure whether we cover your area, just ask.

Why local experience matters

  • Climate: frosty winters, elevated sites and wind exposure call for well-insulated, airtight homes.
  • Sites: steep lakeside sections, pumice soils and rural blocks each need different foundation and design approaches.
  • Councils and consents: we work with Taupō District Council consenting regularly.
  • Local suppliers and trades: a trusted crew who understand high performance detailing.
